Kenneth Harvey, investment officer in charge of technical assistance with the Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services unit of the Caribbean Development Bank, will be in the Cayman Islands from 19-25 February for a series of meetings with various government agencies to discuss the training needs of small and medium sized entities.
During his stay in Cayman, he will also conduct private consultations with businesses.
Although Mr. Harvey has been to Cayman before, this visit comes in preparation for CDB’s 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors here in May. As part of the planned activities, CDB hopes to host a series of CTCS workshops leading up to that main event in conjunction with the Department of Commerce and Investment. Business owners and managers who wish to learn more about the training opportunities and technical assistance available are invited to attend one of two “Benefits of CTCS” networking events scheduled for the 21 and 23 February. Both functions will be held in the DCI’s boardroom on the first floor of the Cayman Corporate Centre at 27 Hospital Road beginning at 5.30pm each evening. Anybody wishing to meet with Mr. Harvey earlier in the day may book appointments through DCI Business Development Adviser Charmaine Moss.
Mr. Harvey will also have a booth at the Agricultural Show on Wednesday, 22 February so he can interact with members of the public, and he will be in Cayman Brac on Friday, 24 February. Access to him on that day can be arranged through the DCI’s Sister Islands Office representative Lolita Arch.
Local business owners, Noel Fletcher of Alpino Construction and Richard Dunn of E & R Construction attended a Computerised Job Estimation Techniques for Artisans and Small Contractors Workshop in Barbados in July 2010, and both business owners were extremely pleased with that programme as well. They felt it was an excellent low-cost training opportunity for persons who wanted to learn new skills and sharpen existing ones via classroom instruction and networking. As a result, Mr Harvey is interested in meeting with as many artisans and contractors as possible to discuss the possibility of offering the CJIT workshop in Grand Cayman in May or later this year. The CTCS network is looking for individuals in each of the CDB’s borrowing member countries who are willing to serve as resource persons in their respective countries. Any professional and technically skilled persons in the Cayman Islands interested in doing so are encouraged to contact Mr. Harvey during his visit.
