Riders will hone their jumping

Local riders are getting a chance to enhance their jumping skills.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation will be hosting its Fun Spring Show on Sunday, 25 March, starting at 8am. The Cayman Islands Equestrian Centre off Linford Pierson Highway will serve as venue.

The show will feature two segments in Gymkhana (at 8am) and jumping (3pm). The Gymkhana class will include activities like handy pony, walk/trot/lead (Canter in the advanced stage), pole bending and apple bobbing. All of the classes will be offered at lead line, beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Aside from a focus on technique, the jumping segment will also feature a cross rails portion.

In addition to the Gymkhana and jumping competitions, there will be a bake and book sale, a sale of second-hand riding gear, an Easter egg hunt and other games.

Registration took place this week as entry forms needed to be submitted by Wednesday. Participants are required to be current federation members.
