Barefoot leads Fla. invasion

Local musicians were once again invited to perform at the Annual Parrot Heads Rendezvous in Panama City Beach Florida on Saturday, 21 April.

The three day event that sold out some four months ago featured bands and solo artists that play a variety of Island style music known as Troprock. The genre is everything from calypso, soca, reggae and steel pan. Cayman’s own Barefoot Man, backed by Sea n’B and Earl Lapierre were invited for the second year to entertain nearly 1,000 shoeless fans adorned in flowered shirts and straw hats. The stage was set on the beach with a huge Cayman Airways banner displayed for all to see.

Charity benefits

Who else except the Barefoot Beach Club could host such an event? All profits from the concert were donated to the Children’s Home Society.

Also performing on the night were Jerry Diaz & Hannah’s Reef Band, of Texas and Florida’s own Jimmy Parrish & Ocean Waves.

A silent auction also took place plus a special sunset conch blowing celebration.
