DART speedily injected $50k

As Caymanian athletes continue to shine and excel on a professional level, DART Cayman Islands gladly signed on as one of the major supporters of the inaugural Cayman Invitational track event.

The meet on 9 May is coordinated by Caymanian sprint queen Cydonie Mothersill and is a huge catalyst for the continued growth of sports tourism. “Dart Cayman Islands is very pleased to offer sponsorship to the Cayman Invitational Track Event,” said Jeffrey Wight, manager of sports and recreation, who presented Mothersill with a cheque for $50,000.

“Sports tourism is an exciting area for the country, one that not only stimulates the economy but provides inspiration for our young athletes. We look forward to the many exciting opportunities this inaugural event will bring to enhance and further develop it in the Cayman Islands.”

Top names on the bill include Yohan Blake and Carmelita Jeter, both reigning world champions in the 100 metres. Mothersill, who has qualified for the London Olympics, will make her debut in Cayman in the 200m. Caymanians also competing will be Olympic 100m qualifier Kemar Hyman, Olympic 100m hopeful Rhymiech Adolphus who has been training with Usain Bolt in Jamaica, long jump twins Carl and Carlos Morgan and Olympic 1500m contender Jon Rankin.
