Dominic Corbin may support Manchester United but that shouldn’t be held against him when reporting on his latest sporting achievement.
The Cayman Free Press IT technician recently came second to Marius Acker in the Earth Day run. He proved that was no fluke and could be a contender in future serious races when he won the Cinco De Mayo at Safehaven on Friday with 64 running the 5k course.
Derek Larner was second and Mike McDonald third. Emily Davies was the first woman home, twelth overall.
Corbin hopes his run inspires Manchester United to Premiership title victory although it looks unlikely as noisy neighbours City need only to win at home against QPR on Sunday to guarantee being champs whereas United need to beat Sunderland away and pray that City slip.
On hearing of his Cinco triumph and the fact that Corbin was in the dazzling CFP Buzz Crusaders five-a-side football championship winning team, United boss Alex Ferguson said: “Pity I didn’t sign him, Dom might have made all the difference had he partnered Rooney up front. Well, it’s not too late for next season!”
