Being the hostess with the mostess – or the host with the most – may not come naturally to everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn. And if the cooking classes at Bon Vivant are anything to go by, learning can be fun.
Regular cooking classes, held between 6.30 and 8.30pm, take a different focus each week – be it on specific skills, ingredients or cuisine styles.
Participants sit back and relax around the in-store demo kitchen, enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or two, and learn from the masters how to create impressive dishes with the minimum of fuss. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and audience participation is welcomed. A varied offering of classes are scheduled for this month:
12 September: Cheese Board Alternatives
Impress your guests at your next soiree with much more than a cheese board. The experts at Bon Vivant will show you how to put together the perfect gourmet cheese platter with wine pairings that will be sure to delight every guest. More than simply selecting cheeses, you’ll learn to create cheese filled dishes, such as baked brie phyllo parcels, layered up brie, savoury cheesecakes or cheese skewers.
18 September: Mexican Fiesta
Take a culinary trip to the land of tequila, tacos and tabasco and, guided by a Mexican chef, learn how to cook up some hot and spicy specialties.
27 September: Making the Cut with the Breville Sous Chef
Take the pain out of preparation with a machine that does it all for you. Learn how this kitchen wizard can transform the cooking experience as it slices, dices, grates and kneads. Create complex and impressive dishes in no time at all with this indispensable kitchen assistant.
