Fidelity fun was big attraction

If the turnout at the opening of the Fidelity Fun Run Series is any indication, road running in Cayman this season will be extremely well attended.

Over 200 participants turned up for the first of three offerings, with the youngest listed as five years old and the eldest as 60-plus, along with a few pram passengers and canine companions. The two-mile run starts from John Gray High School on Walkers Road on Saturday at 7.30am. Registration is from 6.45am.

Tall, long-striding Dominic Corbin topped the field in 10 minutes 31 seconds, relegating Marius Acker to the runner-up spot at 10:35.

Andrew Keast garnered third- place honours with an 11:07 clocking, with David Walker posting 11:19 for fourth and Chadwick Webster rounding out the top five with an 11:28 mark.

Laura Knox has rejoined the local running scene and celebrated her return with a tenth-place overall finish in 12:32 to lead all the ladies. Second spot in 13:28 went to Emily Davies, with Tiffany Cole third at 14:06. Other top five finishers included Shelley White (14:12) and Lucy Nicklas(14:16).
