Frasers will create sparks at CUC’s upcoming swim

Competition in the CUC 800 metres Sea Swim will be a little tougher than usual as Olympians Shaune and Brett Fraser are in the lineup.

The race on Saturday 13 October is the 24th time CUC has sponsored the annual event, starting at Governor’s Beach and ending at Public Beach.

Pat Bynoe-Clarke of CUC said: “The CUC Sea Swim has been a favourite fixture on the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association open water calendar for the past 24 years.

“We are committed to the growth and development of the sport and we are delighted to have Brett and Shaune participate this year.

“Their presence will help enhance the CUC 800m Sea Swim and swimming in general in the Cayman Islands and hopefully encourage more of our youngsters to take a serious interest in the sport.”

After the swim and presentation of trophies, Shaune and Brett will sign autographs.

Registration is from 3-3.45pm at Governor’s Beach with the race starting at 4pm. Trophies will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in all age categories. Regardless of finishing position, every swimmer will get a goody bag, T-shirt, refreshments and Subway sandwiches at the end. Participants in the sea swim will be required to wear distinctive CUC swim–caps during the race, which will be provided when registering.

Entry fees are CIASA members: $10 for children and $15 for adults; non-members: $15 for children and $20 for adults.
