Residents in the Cayman Islands can prep for the apocalypse with the Zombie Island 5k run.
Taking place this Saturday, 27 October, zombies will take over Barker’s Park for the first-ever zombie run in the Cayman Islands. ‘Zombie Island 5k,’ a production of local entertainment firm The Crescendo Group, is set to entice adventure-seekers, runners, as well as fans of the famous movie genre.
“Our main goal as creators of entertainment in the Cayman Islands is to offer something different, unique and exciting,” states Jamaal Solomon of Crescendo. “Successful and fun events challenge the senses and take you to an escape. This time around, we mean escape literally!”
At 12pm this Saturday, runners and their zombie counterparts will gather at Karoo in Camana Bay to check-in. Registration is located online at www.caymanactive.com/zombie5k
Prizes for entrants include $150 each for the fastest male and female survivors, $100 for best costume, $250 for the team with the most health flags at the end and $150 for the zombie with the most flags. Organisers promise many more random prizes.
As everyone knows, zombie infestations normally come during a time of apocalypse and The Crescendo Group have made sure to provide lots of opportunities for the walking dead to let loose at the Apocalypse After Party at Karoo.
“This is going to be unforgettable,” states Richard Barton, also of Crescendo. “We encourage everyone to join us in putting our own unique stamp on Halloween festivities. Crescendo is looking forward to hosting you, both the living and the undead.”
The Zombie Island 5k is presented by The Crescendo Group, Dominos, Karoo, Crossfit Cayman, Nathan Square Communications, the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association, Heineken, Ultimate Vodka, Patron and is endorsed by the Cayman Islands Red Cross.
