The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association, as part of its commitment to developing swimming in the Cayman Islands at all levels, is bringing swimming expert Dennis Ryther here to run a series of Open Water Swimming clinics.
They are from Wednesday 7 November through to Friday followed by the Pirates Week 5k Swim on Saturday morning, where those who attended will be able to put what they learnt into practice.
Ryther hails from San Antonio, Texas and is the chair of the Union Americana de Natacion Open Water Technical Committee. All open water swimming volunteers and officials are encouraged to attend the clinics. On Wednesday they are at the Governor’s Square Boardroom from 7-9pm. On Thursday they are at the Flowers Group Meeting Room from 7-9m.
The Pirates Weeek 5k used to be very popular but lost its appeal to many, but thanks to its new sponsors and the input of the Flowers group in recent years, it is gaining entrants every year.
The Friday session is for swim coaches only at the CIREBA Boardroom, Crighton Building, Crewe Road from 10am to 12 noon.
