Juniors boosted by Legends exposure

The KPMG Legends tennis event gave another chance for juniors to enjoy the big match occasion and meet some of the greatest names in the sport.

Top ranking juniors battled in front of admiring crowds at the Ritz-Carlton courts two weeks ago. The winners were Daniel Reid in the Under-14s, John Ross Clough, U12, and Bobby Lomax, U10. Reid beat 12-year-old Callum Theaker, Clough beat James Priaulx and Lomax got the better of Harrison Clough (U10). All these matches were extremely competitive with some top class play in difficult conditions.

The Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands thanked all the volunteers who assisted with the line judging at the Legends tournament. Three long evenings of line judging and pre-tournament training was a great contribution to the success of Legends.

Mike Ryan and Dan Kneipp deserve props for organising the event and KPMG as the main sponsor. Over 800 school children attended Legends, smoothly arranged by Jenny Frizzell and Michael Myles. The federation received $15,000 worth of Dunlop tennis equipment which will go to schools for their tennis programmes.

The next big tennis action is the PWC Invitational Masters final at The Courts at the Ritz-Carlton on 29 November.
