At the recent general assembly where 130 Olympic delegates gathered at the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort, sports ticket agents Cartan Tours had their reps there to network with the sports fraternity.
Cartan Tours were the official ticket distributors for over 40 countries for the London Olympcs, including the Cayman Islands.
Daniel Gamba is the acting vice-president of Cartan Tours, a sports travel company that works with national Olympic committees and FIFA towards the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Gamba, a Brazilian, said: “We’re one of the match hospitality agents for the World Cup.
“Hopefully the company can do well but it’s about coming over and enjoy our country. The Cayman Islands was voted the friendliest country in the world. We’re probably not as friendly as you guys but we’re looking forward to welcoming everybody.
“It’s going to be a great experience. It’s a country that loves football and a lot of people are going to have a great time. “The London Olympics went really well for Cartan Tours, although a little under the expectations. I think we have to continue working hard on the packages in the territories that we represent.
“We’re growing the company and expanding. Originally, we had 40 for London and hope to grown to about 45 for the Rio Olympics and the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014. Sochi won’t have a lot of participation from the Caribbean nations but we’re looking forward to assisting them as much as we can and moving forward to Rio which is going to be a phenomenal experience.
“This is the first time I’ve participated in a general assembly and it went well for me. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to explore the island but it’s very beautiful from what I’ve seen. I have to come back for a little vacation.”
