Observatory opened last year at University College of the Cayman Islands
The telescope and observatory facilities opened last year at UCCI will be used in an astronomy course that is open to the public.
The Cayman Islands Astronomical Society has been asked by the University College of the Cayman Islands to offer an introductory course on astronomy. The course is non-technical and will cover both classroom and practical sessions.
It will be taught by Chris Cooke, Bill Hrudey and Richard Mcleod.
The course is for seven weeks and will be held on Tuesdays at 7.30pm. Cost is $125 plus a registration fee of either $10 or $25.
Registration for the course should be made by Friday, 18 January, at the Administration Office on campus. However, given the short notice, the society has organised a free evening to sign up. This will be held at the UCCI Observatory on Tuesday, 22 January, at 7.30pm.
If enough people have registered then the course will commence the following Tuesday, 29 January. Mr. Cooke suggested that people wishing to register directly with the UCCI Admin Office by Friday should ask a security guard for its location on entering the campus.
