PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Corporate Social Responsibility Committee has donated $1,000 to the Cayman Islands Humane Society.
This donation will go to the animal shelter’s building fund – a fund designated specifically for covering the costs of regular maintenance and repairs to the facility.
Donations to the building fund are separate from the money raised to cover the day-to-day operating costs of the shelter, said Carolyn Parker, director of the Humane Society.
Volunteers from PwC had seen first hand the need for such a fund, having visited the Humane Society to assist with painting and maintenance on a number of occasions.
“We have a number of fundraising efforts around the office for staff to participate in and were able to raise $1,000 in those efforts. We wanted to give back to the community that we work and live in, and as such decided to donate that money to the Humane Society,” said Brian Chappel, lead of PWC’s corporate social responsibility.
Although the Humane Society is in need of a new, larger facility, Ms Parker said that reality is a long way off. So, for the time being, they must continue to maintain the existing facility.
