Dominos seek revenge against Esso

The Dominos Warriors seem to be dominating local basketball.

With four straight victories, Dominos sit tied for first atop Division One of the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2013 National Men’s League. Their next game is on Sunday, 21 April, at Camana Bay’s Arts and Recreation Centre against the Esso Blazers at 5.45pm.

Dominos, 4-1, had their lone defeat in the season opener against Esso, 4-1. The Warriors have not lost since, with their last victory being a 113-76 thrashing of 0-5 George Town Sports Club last Sunday.

Five Dominos players were in double figures as Collin Anglin led all scorers with 29 points, including four 3-pointers and five assists. Jerome Narcisse added 28 points with five treys and 10 assists, while Borislav Djordjic notched 24 points and 11 rebounds and Antonio Thompson posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Vanrick Felix registered 12 points and six rebounds.

George Town had four players in double digits as Chris Lucas paced his team with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Eckerd McField chipped in 19 points and seven rebounds, while Peter Grant contributed 14 points and five rebounds and Kael Leslie scored 12 points and six assists.

Esso are also on a high ahead of Sunday’s showdown, after Esso clipped 2-3 Silver Bullets, 78-72. Josh Cotterell led the Blazers with 22 points and four rebounds. Teammate Perry Levy added 19 points and five assists and Carlo Archibold had 12 points and 18 rebounds.

Curtis Wilson scored a game-high 28 points and 13 rebounds for the Bullets with Brandon Glasgow adding 14 points. On Sunday, the Silver Bullets will challenge George Town at 7.30pm.

Sunday also features a Division Two clash as 4-1 Game Takers face 1-3 Esso Blazers at 4pm. Game Takers, behind Darryl Paddyfoot, are the division leaders after an 89-59 thrashing of team Philippines last Sunday.
