They’re ‘Pantastic’ indeed

Wind up the working week and remind yourself of the joys of living in the Caribbean when you take a stroll around Camana Bay’s town centre, with the rhythm of the islands playing in the background.

If you’re there between 5 and 7pm you’ll be treated to the delicate tunes of Pantastic – a talented high school steel pan band who play there on select Fridays.

The 16 member band from Cayman Prep and High School mix it up, playing everything from calypso and jazz to classical numbers.

Pantastic have won various awards and competitions and have been invited to join UCCI and Toronto’s AfroPan steel pan bands at the Caribana 2013 Festival and Parade, which takes place in August this year.

Band members are excited at the prospect of playing alongside other steel pan bands of high calibre and working hard to raise the necessary funds. Each band member needs to raise $1100 to cover their airfare and accommodation expenses.

If you’re passing, stop a while and listen, and lend your support to this talented youth band.

  1. They are only at CB for one last performance next week, if you haven’t seen them, they are world class, they are tutoured by the legendary Mr Earl La Pierre. Drop a couple of dollars in their collection tin, they are out their working hard for donations, everything helps, they have no sponsors, no corporates, everything they do is to earn money to get to them to Toronto.
