An annual event held to bring investors and destinations together is to be rescheduled for later this year.
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference 2013 was due to take place at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino from 7 to 9 May.
A statement by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association explained it was “due to circumstances beyond [its] control”.
“[The association] has decided to postpone The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference to a date this fall to be announced shortly,” it read.
“The success of any event hinges on support, between The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, the event sponsors and the host destination. This postponement will allow [the association] to better serve all concerned and ensure a successful conference.”
No further details have been released.
The 2012 conference attracted nearly 400 delegates with representatives from 23 countries in the Caribbean, US and UK. Delegates are from the private and public sectors including architects, designers, developers, financial executives, hotel owners and executives, lawyers, lenders, mortgage brokers, real estate and timeshare agents and developers, as well as tourism and government officials.
