When it comes to eating meat, and whether you should or not, the information can be confusing. Clarification is at hand though – at the Conscientious Carnivore.
It’s the first in a series of healthful culinary events sponsored by Hunt’s, and will take place at Bon Vivant in Camana Bay on Thursday, 20 June, from 5 to 6pm.
Maureen Cubbon, winner of 2013 Cayman Cookout Amateur Chef competition, will be facilitating the event, ably assisted by nutrition educator Andrea Hill.
Maureen will be demystifying some of jargon that surrounds meat, explaining about different cuts and grades, as well as discussing which meats are available from local farmers. Andrea will be on hand to talk about the importance of incorporating protein into our diet.
In order to give participants some practical knowledge (and a not-so-empty belly) to take home with them, she will prepare some sample healthy dishes that incorporate these meats and Hunt’s fresh products, (beer braised brisket, savoury lamb meatballs and steak bites are on the menu), as well as demonstrating how to prepare one of these dishes.
The workshop is free to attend, but you must register in advance, by contacting Bon Vivant at 623-2665 or emailing [email protected] You will also be entered to win a $50 Bon Vivant gift certificate.
