Gaming for charity

Saturday evening is Blue Jack Casino night at the Arts and Recreation Centre at Camana Bay.

It’s set to be an entertaining evening of cocktails, games, auctions and prizes – all of which will benefit the Cayman Islands Committee of the United World College.

Starting at 7pm, guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbly and canapes. The $50 ticket includes $25 worth of chips and automatic entry into the prize draw.

Gamers will have a choice of tables at play, with roulette having been added this year. Others games will include poker, dominoes and a special version of black jack – aptly named “Blue Jack”.

Those on a winning streak will be able to exchange their chips for half of the dollar amount of the silent auction items. The other half will be paid in cash.

All attendees will stand a chance of winning the raffle, the main prizes being a Cayman Airways ticket and BlackBerry phone.

Silent auction items include Caymanite pieces, hotel stays, paddleboarding trips and airline tickets. Golden nuggets will also be available for purchase for $10. Each nugget carries a prize, some of which are valued at around $10, others at significantly more.

Proceeds from the evening will go toward the UWC fund, which provides scholarships to outstanding Caymanian students so that they may study at UWC campuses worldwide.
