Saxon mash up UBS

Saxon G-Force have their first victory on the diamond.

Saxon beat UBS Aces, 21-14, on Tuesday at the Field of Dreams facility. The match was part of the 2013 Fall Adult Coed Softball League, put on by the Cayman Islands Little League Association. With the victory, Saxon are 1-3-1, good enough for third in the four-team C league. UBS are division frontrunners along with team Dart. The Fluff and Fold Home Gas Misfits are also part of the group.

Tuesday’s contest was an offensive showcase as both teams put together multi-run innings. A pair of Saxon employees had stellar showings in Erwin Freeland and Leon Conolly, with Freeland essentially putting on a hitting clinic. Notable performances were also turned in by David Hill, Yareli Bulnes and TV sportscaster Kevin Morales. The standouts for UBS were pitcher Karl Preuss, third baseman Jason Wong and shortstop Benoit Ouellette.

For the record, this reporter is a G-Force player. In spite of a defensive miscue in the outfield, a 2-for-3 showing at the plate with two long singles and a run scored made for a respectable outing.

Week five of the league continues on Thursday, Aug. 29, as PwC B battles Dart at 8 p.m. on field three.
