Three men were arrested Tuesday after a burglary in the Red Bay area that led to a police chase.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service received a report just before 3 p.m. Tuesday of a burglary in progress at a house on Selkirk Drive.
Police said the occupant of the house “disturbed” the suspects, who drove away in a red Honda Civic. Officers en route to the scene followed the Honda and used sirens and blue lights in an effort to stop it.
Police said the Civic’s driver failed to stop and drove into George Town where the car crashed near the junction of East Boulevard and Walkers Road. Three men bailed out of the car and ran off toward Windsor park.
Police arrested two men in a search of the immediate area a short while after the crash. A third suspect was later arrested in central George Town. All three were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
No one was injured in the crash. The Civic, which was stolen in West Bay earlier Tuesday, sustained front-end damage in the crash. No other vehicles were damaged in the incident.
