Organized by the Department of Commerce and Investment in recognition of entrepreneurs in the Cayman Islands, Entrepreneurship Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at the Family Life Centre from 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Entrepreneurship Day, which is free and open to the public, will include a small business expo, technical assistance workshops, face-to-face meetings with accomplished entrepreneurs, a platform for budding entrepreneurs to present their business ideas, and a cocktail reception and business networking event, with a presentation made by a successful entrepreneur.
The event is intended to increase awareness of the variety of micro and small businesses in the local market, organizers say, as well as to stimulate immediate sales for exhibitors and educate a wider audience on the services that DCI and other nongovernment organizations can provide to the sector.
It will also inform the small business community of new investment projects they can benefit from.
DCI Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh said that due to calls from small business owners and last year’s successful event, DCI was encouraged to put on another event coinciding with World Entrepreneurship Day.
“Not only is this event a fantastic opportunity for small and micro business owners to exhibit their goods and services to the general public,” he said, “it also gives business owners a chance to network and learn best practices, as well as showcase how they can do business together.”
Event organizer Charmaine Moss said the program is designed for those who want to learn about products and services that will help their business grow and make business-to-business connections.
“DCI takes into serious consideration the fact that small business owners are often unable to be away from their office for more than one day. Therefore, it is essential that they are able to meet with exhibitors and attend valuable workshops in just one day,” she added.
The DCI is seeking participation from startups to more established exhibitors. Booth spaces and opportunities for local corporate sponsors are available. For more information, contact Ms. Moss at [email protected]
