Financial boost for Youth Parliament

Several businesses have helped support the efforts of the Cayman Islands Youth Parliament, which takes place on March 10, Commonwealth Day.

Cayman Airways customer service representatives Christina Ulett and Samantha McLaughlin joined Cayman National Bank’s executive assistant Christy Braggs in presenting donations to the students involved.

“Our sincere thanks go to our sponsors,” said Clerk of the Legislative Assembly Zena Merren-Chin. “Each year CAL sponsors our Cayman Brac students and their chaperones so they can participate in the rehearsals, as well as on the actual day.

She also thanked Cayman National Bank, as well as Mourant Ozannes, RBC, Dart Enterprises, Ernst & Young, ABS Trade, Conyers Dill & Pearman, Ogier and Walkers for their monetary assistance.

“We are very grateful to all of the sponsors this year for encouraging our participants and promoting youth engagement in our community,” Ms. Merren-Chin said.

The chief executive officer of Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. will make a presentation on behalf of the company March 11 at a forum sponsored by ROTH Capital Partners, an investment banking firm dedicated to the small-cap market.

CEO Rick McTaggart will make his presentation in the morning, and he and Chief Financial Officer David Sasnett will be available for meetings during the conference in Dania Point, California, according to a press release.

Consolidated Water develops and operates seawater desalination plants and water distribution systems in areas of the world where naturally occurring supplies of potable water are scarce or nonexistent.

The 26th Annual ROTH Conference will include presentations from over 400 emerging growth companies across a variety of sectors, a press release said.

Digicel marked its 10-year anniversary Tuesday by offering a number of fun activities, discounts and giveaways in all three stores across the island.

The company gave a free gift with every purchase and various discounts and other rewards.

Digicel Cayman CEO Chris Hayman said, “When we launched in Cayman 10 years ago, we came with the promise of best network, best service and best value. Over the years, we have continued to deliver on those promises…

“But today is not about Digicel, it’s about our loyal family of customers who are at the heart of everything we do. As such, I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their loyalty and support. We look forward to the next 10 years to come.”
