Pizza Hut started their Little League season in exciting fashion.
The AAA division of the Cayman Islands Little League Association 2014 campaign, the league’s 25th season, started this month with Pizza Hut defeating Home Gas, 16-5. In the first inning, Ahmari “Flash” Piercy from Home Gas took the mound as pitcher and held the visiting team to two runs. Pizza Hut then took the field and pitcher Finigan “The Terminator” Huffington held the home team to one run, in spite a nice hit from Home Gas third baseman Eric Boggess.
Play was fast and furious through the second with no score change. The game took off in the third inning with Runs Batted In from Huffington, Elias Lopez, Chase Green and Justin Derrick on a picture perfect bunt, with Zach Bodden and Kevin Weber both registering triples. Home Gas responded with three runs in the third from Francisco “Dido” Fuentes, Boggess and Piercy. In spite of some good hitting and defensive playing, Home Gas could not break the momentum gained by Pizza Hut.
The AAA division caters to kids ages 13-16 and sees games on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6:30-8 p.m. with practices on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.
