Dr. Ian MacDonald has joined the team at the Children’s Clinic.
Dr. MacDonald, who was born in Edinburgh and raised and schooled in the Shetland Islands, off the north coast of Scotland, graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1981 and gained experience in acute medicine, accident and emergency, anaesthetics and general practice before entering pediatric training in 1990.
Between 2000 and 2011, he worked as a consultant pediatrician with a special interest in neonatology in Inverness, Scotland. He was employed initially as clinical lead for neonatology and latterly as head of service for pediatrics. During that time, he also helped run the shared care pediatric oncology service and ran a pediatric rheumatology clinic.
During this period, Dr. MacDonald served on the Scottish government committee charged with creating the Scottish Neonatal Transport Network and subsequently on the Scottish government committee reorganizing the delivery of neonatal care and organizing neonatal networks within Scotland.
