Jason Saunders repeated his victory from last year in Sunday’s Cadet Corps 10K race, this time winning in 37 minutes, 08 seconds.
It was an exhausting weekend for Saunders because the day before, he won the Healthy Body Healthy Mind 5K run as well.
Second place finisher in the Cadet race was Chadwick Webster (40:00), who was much closer than his finishing time suggests because he missed the opening to the field at the end and ran an extra 300 to 400 meters. Fortunately for him, this did not affect his overall position. Tobias Muchene (40:16) finished in third place.
In the women’s race, Joanna Mansi (43:52) was first ahead of Emily Davies (49:34) and Justine Plenkiewicz, third.
There were 65 runners in all.
The second annual Cayman Islands Cadet Corps 10K, sponsored by BDO and organized by Derek Larner of Race Caribbean, was held beside the John Gray High School field near the Field of Dreams.
All proceeds benefit the Cadet Corps.
