A third Stanley Cup could cement Patrick Kane’s legacy on the ice.
Kane and his Chicago Blackhawks have a chance for a second straight championship as the NHL playoffs get under way this week. With a new playoff format that emulates college basketball and a loaded Western Conference, the odds are against Kane and company. Chicago starts its first round match-up with the St. Louis Blues on April 17 and advancing out of the West does not get easier from there as the Anaheim Ducks were frontrunners all season and Jonathan Quick’s Los Angeles Kings are lurking on the periphery.
If Chicago does get back to the title game, they might face a familiar foe in the Boston Bruins. The 2013 Stanley Cup finalists are heavy favorites to run through the Eastern Conference playoffs past the likes of the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers and Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
