Veterinarian returns home

Veterinarian Amrita Mohanty is returning to her home in Cayman to take up a position at a local clinic.

Dr. Mohanty joins the Veterinary Clinic and Specialty Pet Board in Savannah as associate veterinarian, with effect from May 1.

Clinic owner Alfred Benjamin said, “The management and staff are happy and proud to welcome one of our own local professionals to the practice.”

Dr. Mohanty arrived in Cayman aged 3 and grew up in Cayman Brac until age 12, when she moved to Grand Cayman. She volunteered with local veterinarians until completing her A-levels. She attended the Royal School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and graduated in June 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine and surgery.

“While she enjoyed her time abroad for all of the knowledge that she has gained, both academic and culturally, she is very happy to be home, giving back to the community in which she was raised and is thoroughly enjoying helping the many pets on island,” Dr. Benjamin said.
