Dance Unlimited’s “2 Fold: Love Travels,” unfolds Friday night at the Harquail Theatre, featuring a troupe ranging in age from 3 to adults. While the show runs through the weekend, Friday night’s performance will be staged for children only, and Saturday evening’s performance is reserved for adults.
Lorna Reid, Dance Unlimited’s artistic director, explained the two different shows.
“The juniors will journey to a number of countries through dance, while the seniors will present love as seen through their eyes and the eyes of their choreographers,” she says.
Modern, pop, Afro-Caribbean and Reggae dance styles will be exhibited, with choreography by Jessica Eden, Patrice Donalds, Melisha McField, Monica Lawrence, Reid and Aaliyah Webster. The performances will pay tribute to two choreographers and dancers who have recently passed away, Susan Barnes and Donna Reid.
This will be a chance to see the troupe before a selection of them travel to Barbados to take part in the “Universal Expressions Arts Festival” from May 23 to 26, joining participants from Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia and St. Vincent.
Performances of “2 Fold: Love Travels” are Friday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets for all evening performances are $25 for adults and $15 for under 16. The Saturday matinee is $10 for adults and $5 for under 16. For information or tickets, call 926-1826. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
