Caribbean hotel chain interested in Cayman
All-inclusive resort chain Sandals has confirmed it is interested in coming to Grand Cayman.
The company, which has hotels across the Caribbean, specializes in package vacations where everything from scuba diving to golf are included at the resort.
Sandals is reportedly looking at potential opportunities in the East End. The move would represent a shift in emphasis for Cayman’s tourism product, which currently does not include all-inclusive type resorts.
A spokesman for Sandals said, “It’s no secret we’d love to open a Sandals in Cayman. It’s a wonderful country with great people and discussions remain ongoing but nothing is confirmed at the moment.”
The Ministry of Tourism has not been involved in any discussions with the chain to date, which would be the normal process if a development was imminent.
