McGee aims to dazzle

Cory McGee is set to electrify sports tourism in the Cayman Islands.

The former European pro basketball player is putting on the McGee Cayman Classic from Sept. 16 to 21. The spectacle will encompass a celebrity golf event, a celebrity all-star basketball game, a youth basketball camp and concerts featuring mostly country music stars. The list of stars scheduled to be in Cayman is staggering, ranging from former Orlando Magic star Nick Anderson (who visited Cayman before) to Hollywood legends Dennis Quaid and Dennis Haysbert, commonly known as “The Allstate Guy.”’

“I have not had a good night’s sleep since Ezra’s passing,” McGee said. “That incident has made me a better father, friend, mentor and coach. Anything I can do to ensure that something like this does not happen to anyone else…I hope the McGee Cayman Classic helps spread the word about how being bullied affects the lives around us and how to speak to someone when situations occur.”
