Thomas smashes old Baytaf record

Mustang Track Club athletes went to the University of South Florida Tampa, to compete in the annual Baytaf Track and field Championship and came away with a big haul of medals.

At the end of the three-day meet the team amassed a total of 30 medals, 14 gold, 11 silver and five bronzes and a third place finish overall in the 1st Division team score and also a new meet record from Daneliz Thomas in the girls 15/16 javelin. The previous record was set as far back as 1999. Her throw of 37.31 meters was 14m ahead of the second placed athlete.

Coach Tyrone Yen was extremely impressed with their performances, saying the athletes showed remarkable improvement.

They were Daujaughn Murray who won gold medals in the 13-year-old boys 400m and 800m. Murray showed immense determination towards the end of those events while having a huge personal best in the 400m. Kashief Dawkins won silver in the 14-year-old boys 200m and 400m with personal bests in both.
