Many of those who perform at the show have also performed internationally, and up-and-coming talent, including some who have participated in the Xposition since a very early age, will be on stage as well.
Presented by the New Self-Help Community Foundation, the Talent Xposition will showcase many of the islands’ brightest performing artists in dance, poetry, music and drama. Rising stars such as Liana DaCosta and Zariah Anglin continue to grow and develop their skills of live performance. There will also be appearances from Cottrell, Andy Blake, and rising stars Lebron McLean, Alyson Clarke and Ericka Nichole, to name a few.
The New Self-Help Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to help teenagers develop a sense of self-worth and community spirit. Proceeds from the event will benefit the foundation’s Training Program of the Arts and Youth Empowerment Program.
Dancers from the ‘UCCI Performing Arts’ group grace the stage again this year.
The foundation’s CEO, J.C. Connor, who developed the idea for the talent showcase, believes that for a nation to succeed, it must stimulate and cultivate the creative imagination of its young people.
“We believe the performing arts provide ways to raise awareness and inspire creative solutions,” he said in a press release. “Creativity is core to who we are; the performing arts build a strong foundation for who we become. The demand for creative thinking is increasing in the performing arts. Therefore, a transformative change is needed. When young people are encouraged, they become authors of new works.”
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.; show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Funky Tangs and Reflections for $10, or for $15 at the door.
