Martin Webb scored at the end of the first half to hand Cayman a 1-0 victory over host Curacao on Wednesday at the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 Men’s qualifiers in Curacao.
Webb’s brilliant 45th minute goal silenced the 2,000 strong home crowd at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in the capital. Willemstad.
Cayman returns to action on Friday against Anguilla.
Renard Moxam, Director of National Teams, said: “The boys worked tremendously hard and got the win they deserved. Martin scored a great individual goal. He has always been able to do that and now his maturity is showing.
“We are focused on getting the points from the other two matches and will be organized and have total concentration for the Anguilla game.”
In the opening match, double strikes from Tijhaun Isaac and Vinceroy Nelson propelled St. Kitts and Nevis to a 7-0 victory over Anguilla.
Isaac (3rd, 62nd minutes) and Nelson (23rd, 47th) fired St. Kitts to the top of the standings with a dominating performances over their neighbors.
Yusuf Saunders (12th), Carlos Bertie (61st) and Tahir Hanley (77th) completed the scoring for St. Kitts and Nevis.
On Friday, St. Kitts tackles Curacao.
The teams are vying for a spot in the final round of qualifying scheduled for September in Trinidad and Tobago.
