The third annual Walk for Recovery next month will raise money for the Hope for Today Foundation’s halfway homes that house those recovering from alcohol and or substance addictions.
The 3-mile walk starts at 6 a.m. at Seven Mile Public Beach on Sept. 28, in support of national Recovery Month 2014.
Hope Foundation operations manager Brent Hydes, who launched the idea three years ago, said the foundation hopes to sell about 200 tickets.
“Last year, we raised more than $2,000. We are hoping to double that this year,” Mr. Hydes said.
“This year, we want to encourage people to take part … Engage themselves in the fight against crime. We are all coming together to fight as a community.”
All proceeds will be donated to the halfway house program.
Prizes awarded to participants will include a weekend at the Westin resort, a Nokia Lumina cellphone from LIME, and dinner for four at the Lobster Pot.
Tickets are $25. Phone 928-9099 for more details.
