The Miss Cayman pageant contestants got a look at life in the Philippines this weekend when they attended the premiere of local filmmaker Frank E. Flowers’s “Metro Manila.”
Several screenings of the film were shown at Regal cinemas in Camana Bay, followed by an after party, on Saturday night as part of the “Unlike Cayman” arts festival.
The movie, which is in the Tagalog language, was co-written by Mr. Flowers and Oscar-nominated director Sean Ellis. It won the audience award at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA award in the U.K.
Proceeds from “Unlike Cayman” are going to the Cayman arm of the United World Scholarship Fund.
