Police arrest two, seize air conditioners

A pickup truck carrying stolen air conditioning units was intercepted by armed police along the Esterley Tibbetts Highway on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old man from George Town and a 24-year-old man from East End were arrested on suspicion of theft after being stopped by police at the Butterfield roundabout, police said.

The two commercial AC units had been reported stolen from a business at Galleria Plaza on West Bay Road at 11:20 a.m., according to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.

The units had been disconnected to be collected by their owner, but were stolen before the owner arrived, police said in a statement.
