Women’s softball hopes to build on international success.
The Cayman Islands Softball Association is currently wrapping up its 2014 fast-pitch league. The competition features men’s and women’s teams playing at the Field of Dreams. Players in both segments have been putting their recent experience in Florida to use after representing Cayman at the 2014 Nicaraguan International Softball Tournament in Miami.
The ladies grabbed most of the accolades as the women’s national team, coached by Marlon Thomas and assisted by Richard Wilson, grabbed the championship trophy. In addition, local players did earn individual awards. Carneth Thomas received the champion home run trophy. Ivy Robinson-Taylor won the champion pitcher trophy along with the Most Valuable Player Award.
Aside from the aforementioned players, the ladies team consisted of Alicia Forbes, Samantha Ebanks, Ann-Marie Douglas, Natalia Turnquest, Daneliz Thomas, Melantha Wright, Natasha Roberts, Danna Vasquez, Molly-Ann Moore and Breana Welds.
