A Caymanian woman who expected to give birth to twins was surprised last week when doctors in the delivery room told her that a third baby was on the way.
“This is not something that was expected to happen, it was just twins, and it ended up being triplets because [the third baby] was hiding behind the placenta,” said mom Yasmin Connor, who gave birth to two girls and a boy on Oct. 23.
Nicknamed “Secret,” Isadora Badillo was born at 11:28 a.m. weighing 5 pounds 7 ounces. Her sister Isabella was born one minute earlier, and her brother Isiah was born first. The three babies combined weighed almost 17 pounds.
Fifteen months ago Ms. Connor, 34, gave birth to triplets, but only two of them survived.
Ms. Connor said the births were all natural, and no fertility drugs were involved.
