The Department of Sports is organizing a series of events throughout March as part of the Honouring Women’s Month and the next one is on nutrition on Tuesday.
“Make It Happen” is for women’s wellness and presented by expert nutritionist Andrea Hill.
Entry is free and it is at the VIP lounge at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex from 6-7.30 p.m. Refreshments are provided.
Topics Hill will cover include setting realistic health goals, choosing the best breakfast foods – and avoiding the worst – and guidelines on healthy snacks.
It also covers learning how to read food labels and the basics on nutritional supplements for managing overall health and wellness.
Another nutritional talk will be held at the same place on Thursday, 6-7 p.m., but this time the presentation is targeted at girls aged 8-11.
Healthy eating habits for children is the main aim. Parents will learn how effective they can be as role models and how to support healthy habits, especially in children dealing with overweight and obesity issues. Children and parents will learn how to set health goals and track progress and how fueling a healthy body begins with a good breakfast, and how balanced snacking throughout the day can support energy levels, thinking power and better performance in sports.
There is a chance for sports officials to display their talents on March 21 and a motivational health and fitness presentation on March 24.
