For the 31st year, swimmers will flock to Governors Beach for the popular Foster’s Food Fair IGA 800-meter Sea Swim.
Hosted by the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association, the sea swim attracts a wide variety of participants – competitive and noncompetitive swimmers of all ages – to the family-friendly activity. The swim allows parents to set a great example of a healthy lifestyle by swimming with their children. Saturday’s swim starts at 4 p.m., with registration from 3-3:45 p.m. The loop course starts and ends at Governors Beach.
“The Foster’s Food Fair IGA 800m Sea Swim is 31 years old today – a testament to the longevity and organization of the sport of swimming in the Cayman Islands,” said Foster’s Food Fair IGA Managing Director Woody Foster. “Our family is a longtime supporter of swimming, and our companies are committed to helping the people of the Cayman Islands live a healthy life.”
The sea swim also sees the continuation of its partnership with Subway, which provides athletes with healthy sandwiches at the end of each of the season’s open water races.
All swimmers are provided with swim caps, which must be worn for safety reasons. There are event T-shirts, trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, and refreshments provided at the end of the race.
Entry fees for CIASA members are $10 for children and $15 for adults; non-member fees are $15 for children and $20 for adults.
