Elite organize pre-season tournament

Elite Sports Club is inviting football teams to participate in The Hot Zone Sports Cup this weekend for men’s and youth teams. It is a warm-up tournament before the following week’s Premier League kick off and also a fundraiser for Elite.

The tournament is on Oct. 10 and 11 at the Ed Bush Sports Complex.

Four teams will be competing in each category: men’s, Under-15 boys, U-17 girls and U-17 boys. Elite will have a team in each category.

The group of four will play each other for three games guaranteed, and the winner will be the team with the best record from the three games.

Awards for the winner will be a team trophy and a football gift certificate for $100 from the Hot Zone Sports. The registration fee is $50 per team.

The men’s competition will consist of eight teams divided into two groups of four, having three games each. The best results from the games will entitle the two group winners to play in the finals.

A visiting team from Honduras and Elite are already registered, so only six spaces are available. Awards for the winners will be a team trophy and a football gift certificate from Hot Zone Sports for $300. The registration fee is $100 per team.

The games will be played on natural and artificial turf. Games will be played for 25 minutes per half with a quick water break. Players will not be allowed to leave the field. Punctuality is mandatory to eliminate forfeiture.

All Cayman Islands Football Association rules apply. There will be five substitutions allowed for each game. Players are allowed to play for only one team.

A team registration form, including a waiver, must be completed.

This is an Elite Sports Club fundraiser and admission will be by a raffle ticket for $5, which can be used both days by fans. Food and drinks will be served.
