CUC swim brings families together

The annual CUC 800m Sea Swim is on this weekend, and is a loop course, starting and ending at Governors Beach.

The 27th staging of this event is on Saturday and starts at 4 p.m., with registration from 3-3:45 p.m. Registration ranges in price from $10 to $20.

Richard Hew, CUC president, said, “We look forward to our 27th year of working with CIASA to stage the annual CUC 800m Sea Swim.

“The event fits squarely with our aim to promote the participation by youth in sports and a healthy lifestyle in Cayman and we anticipate a strong attendance and competition at all youth age groups.

“The CUC swim is also a great family event with many parents and other adults through the senior age groups also participating, so we encourage anyone willing to give an 800m swim a try to come out on Saturday.”

Michael Lockwood, president of the swimming association, said, “We are grateful for CUC’s continued support to swimming in Cayman and in particular to our open sea swims.”

All swimmers are provided with swim caps, which must be worn for safety reasons, and there are event T-shirts, trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each age group and Subway sandwiches and refreshments provided at the end of the race.
