Rotary Club VIP premiere
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is possibly the most anticipated new film of the decade (and please, please let it be better than the last three installments).
All signs, including the much pored over trailer, seem to indicate that this latest foray into the world of the Jedi and the Sith is going to be a blockbuster to end all blockbusters, hence the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman has secured the very first screening of the film at the Regal Camana Bay Stadium 6.
Everything will be revealed on Dec. 18, with festivities starting at 7 p.m. It is an adults-only showing, as there will be free bubbles and a bar on site. Dressing as your favorite character is highly recommended and many outfits will certainly be on display.
Chris Bailey and Rob Martin, both Rotarians, really want to make this a standout premiere event in the hope of showcasing more films in Cayman in the future.
No expense has been spared. For example, if you haven’t seen the life-sized X-wing fighter currently on display outside the cinema, then you should. The Rotarians have teamed up with Lions Productions to ensure the red carpet and lights get the full treatment with lasers, sound and an immersive experience.
You also get soft drinks and popcorn, along with reserved parking with your ticket purchase and there is even an after-party at Waterfront Urban Diner for a film post-mortem chat and social.
Tickets for the premiere in some cities around the world are changing hands for hundreds of dollars. If you were a fan of the original films and it formed part of your childhood, then you’ll probably want to see this film at the earliest opportunity. The good news is that there are still seats available for this Rotary special premiere.
Ticket are $100 for the VIP ticket and $50 for the after-party. All proceeds will go to the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman to help fund local projects. Tickets can be purchased from the CML office in Grand Pavilion between Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon at the cinema box office.
