Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Walk!

It’s time to don your Santa hat, adjust your big black belt buckle, and strap on your boots. Why? For the annual Jingle Bell Walk/Run, of course!

The charity fun run of the year is almost upon us. On Sunday, hundreds of enthusiastic runners and walkers will hit the pavement at the Holiday Inn Resort in support of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. Festive costumes and accessories are encouraged.

You can head out and join the fun with Santa Claus and the Miss Cayman contestants as they cheer on competitors and hand out prizes after the hard part is over. This is one event you do not want to miss as it’s fun for the whole family and you’re helping a worthy cause in the process.

It all begins and ends at the resort in Crystal Harbour. Make your way along SafeHaven Drive through the North Sound Golf Club course (taking notes as you go, as you’ll be jogging or walking it soon after) and you’ll find the Holiday Inn.

Registration is $25 and includes a full breakfast on the beach as well as gifts from Santa for every child registered. There will also be raffle prizes for all the finishers, thanks to the many sponsors, but you must be present to win.

The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre was established in early 2003 to provide a safe haven for abused women and their children.

The center received approximately 316 calls last year and provided shelter to more than 100 women and children. In addition, the shelter offers counseling, education, advocacy and community resources for victims of abuse.

Online registration is available at www.caymanactive.com or on Saturday at the Savannah Foster’s Food Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Kirk Market from 7-11 a.m. You can also register on race day.
