Visitor dies while diving

An 81-year-old man from the United States died Sunday morning after getting into trouble while scuba diving, police reported.

A press release states that police and EMS responded to a report of an unconscious man at Sunset House in George Town about 9:45 a.m. Police said the man “was reported to have gotten into difficulties while underwater.”

Emergency responders took the man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:25 a.m.

According to Keith Sahm, general manager of Sunset House, the man was on an organized boat dive with a group and the boat docked at Sunset House to meet the emergency services. He said the man was an Advanced Open Water diver with more than 500 dives.

  1. I am sad to hear about a other tragic death .
I wonder when would people start taking responsibility ? How did this gentleman get a tank to go diving ? Who took this 81 year gentleman diving ? There should be a cut of age .

I have been a charter boat captain for over 20 years , in my career I have had customers return to take my trip till they reach the age where as a responsible Captain it was my decision because of their age i had to go into the water with them to make sure that they enjoyed the trip to the fullest , and they continued taking my trip .
