Cayman captive industry gathers at US risk conference

IMAC Chair Erin Brosnihan

Representatives from Cayman’s captive industry are attending RIMS 2018, a leading risk conference, in San Antonio, Texas, next week.

The delegation will include more than 30 experts from captive businesses, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman.

IMAC Chair Erin Brosnihan stressed the importance of the event: “RIMS is the ideal opportunity to talk and listen – talk to potential clients about why Cayman is their number one choice for captive insurance; and listen to existing clients about what they are currently experiencing in the industry.”

Ms. Brosnihan said IMAC’s role involves facilitating open communication between the industry, government and CIMA.

“In order for Cayman to remain competitive and relevant, communication is key,” she added.

IMAC’s booth at the conference, from April 15 to 18, will feature a virtual reality game where players “walk the plank” for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to this year’s Cayman Captive Forum. Cayman attracted 33 new captive formations in 2017.

“This industry is thriving,” Ms. Brosnihan said.
