Friends of a deceased Filipino man are raising funds to help cover the costs of repatriating his remains to his home country.

Marlon Formentos Cabrera, 41, was found dead at a home on Newport Avenue in George Town on April 7. Police said no foul play was suspected in Mr. Cabrera’s death.

The Philippines national was working as a bartender in Cayman and friends here have started a GoFundMe page, asking the public for assistance in raising $10,000 to help cover repatriation costs. Some of the money raised will also be sent to his mother and family back in the Philippines.

“We wish to send him home to his kids and family in the Philippines so they could pay their final respect,” according to a GoFundMe web page started for Mr. Cabrera this week, which has so far raised more than $2,000. “We all have to be strong and come together for Marlon.”
