Cayman juniors tee off at 2019 CIGA Championship

Aaron Jarvis and Holly Mclean topped the boys and girls divisions respectively at the CIGA Junior Championships.

The 2019 Cayman Islands Junior Championships was held 11-12 May at the North Sound Golf Club, and featured 10 players ages from ages 11 to 18 in three divisions.

In the girls 36-hole championship, reigning champion Holly Mclean defended her title with two scores of 77 and 75, for a total over the two days of 152. The runner-up was Lauren Needham with a score of 163.

The boys 36-hole championship, played from the blue tees, was closely contested with Aaron Jarvis edging out Justin Hastings to be crowned champion. Aaron shot two rounds of 68 to end up with 136 for the tournament, 6 under par. Justin followed closely behind, following 2 rounds of even par 71. Todd Purton finished third with scores of 85 and 84.

The Red Tee Tournament for the younger players was contested over 18 holes on the Sunday. Ben Croucher came out on top with a score of 84, followed closely by Sam Mclean with a score of 86.

During the trophy ceremony, the Cayman Islands Golf Association Junior Committee thanked the Junior Program sponsors for their support and all the volunteers for their time. All the junior golfers who took part were congratulated on the standard of play over the two days.
