Car crashes into airport building

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for DUI on Friday night after a grey Porsche SUV crashed into a building at the airport.

According to a police, shortly after 10pm on Friday, officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Owen Roberts Drive in the vicinity of the Owen Roberts International Airport. Police said the building was damaged in the collision. The driver was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

When police arrived on the scene, they noted that the driver appeared intoxicated and took a roadside breath test, which showed a reading of 0.13%. The legal limit is 0.10%.

They also found that the driver was using the vehicle without the owner’s permission.

The driver, from North Side, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, careless driving, unlawful use of vehicle, driving without being qualified and driving without insurance.

He is now on police bail.
